Was he suggesting that they have sex, that they sleep together, to get the attraction out of their system? The idea had a certain appeal. Every moment she spent with him in this house, only made her want him more. Maybe she could have won the fight she was waging inside if she didn't see him all the time, didn't see how much he wanted to be a part of Connor's life. If he'd been the irresponsible jerk she'd built up in her mind for the past twelve years maybe she would have had a chance of resisting him. But being here with him, seeing how he interacted with her son and having him share with her his deepest secret, had gone a long way to destroying the protective wall she'd built around herself.

How would it be different to be with him now, when she was a woman grown, when she now had experienced a lot more of life than she had at eighteen? There was no doubt in her mind that she wanted him, especially now that he was only a fraction of an inch away. How different would it be this time, if she gave in, if she did what he wanted and what her body wanted her to do? They'd been so young when they'd been together before. Perhaps nostalgia had built it up in her mind as something bigger than the two of them. It's not like she believed in fairy tales any more. She could go into this with her eyes wide open and her expectations in check.

"Are you saying we should have a fling?"

She could get behind a fling. She wanted him bad enough to be tempted by the notion of it. The fear that was holding her back from him was not being intimate with him, but of losing her heart to him. If she knew from the start that this was only going to ever amount to them satiating their desire for each other, that what happened between them would be purely physical, then surely she could protect her heart. Couldn't she?

"I'm saying I want you. I'm saying that I can't do what I need to do for my pack with you in my head. The attraction that was there all those years ago is still there. We need to get it out of our system. This is how we can do it."

"How long will it take?" She moved even closer and her breast were now fully pressed against the hard wall of his chest.

How had she fooled herself into thinking that she could be satisfied with going on a date with a man who did nothing for her when what she really wanted was Logan? It didn't need to be forever. She was certain that part of the reason he appealed to her so much was because she'd told herself that she couldn't have him. It was like being on a diet and telling yourself that you couldn't have a slice of cake which made it all you could think about.
